Five podiums in five rounds extends Petter’s championship lead
After taking victory at round four of the FIA World RX Championship iON athlete Petter Solberg extended his 100% podium streak and series lead advantage.
The Estering circuit in Buxtehude has a long tradition within RallyX. The circuit, 60% gravel and 40% tarmac, produced some brilliant racing for the fans that turned out to watch.
The first two heats weren’t the greatest for Solberg who ended day one in 4th position. Heats three and four went much better allowing Petter to line up in pole position for the semi-final, which, thanks to a well-timed Joker lap, he won.
This put Petter 2nd on the grid for the final race of the weekend. After early race leader Davey Jeanney got the hole shot he pulled a healthy lead. It was left to Petter and title rival Johann Kristofferson to battle for the second spot on the podium. Petter got the better of the Swede to take his fifth podium in as many rounds and extend his championship lead to 35 points.
