The FIA World Rallycross Championship returned to the Intercity Istanbul Park in Turkey for round 11 of the series.  After a win last time out at the inaugural Barcelona RX iON athlete Petter Solberg was out to repeat his previous event performance and move one step closer to retaining his world title.

The heats started well for Petter as he posted the 3rd fastest time in the first encounter followed by the 4th fastest time in second.  Heat three didn’t go according to plan with a 10th place result before a sensational drive in the last heat of the weekend to take 2nd.  Petter then lined up on the second row of the first semi-final but as his 600bhp Citroen DS3 RX car launched off the line his driveshaft broke.  Petter therefore didn’t make the final.

It was Team Peugeot Hansen driver Timmy Hansen who took to the top step of the podium at the end of the final after a race long scrap with last years winner Andreas Bakkerud.

The championship now heads to Italy and the Franciacorta International Circuit for round 12.  Last time Petter visited this track he left as World Champion, let’s see what the action brings in two weeks!
