Winners of the iON World Rallycross Competition
iON Cameras are the official Action Camera sponsor for the World Rallycross Championships. We put together a great prize package that included a trip to Italy with V.I.P hospitality to the last leg of the season for one lucky fan and a guest.
As if this wasn’t enough, our friends at Rebellion offered one of their amazing watches – you can learn more about Rebellion by watching this great introduction video. The Autosport International show which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham between 16-17th January 2016 threw in a pair of Paddock Passes to the event, which allows you access into the designated driver signing sessions, access to the backstage paddock area and the best seats in the house for the Live Action arena. To top it off the winners took home a selection of iON Cameras including Air Pro’s and the new SnapCam.
The Winner was motorsport fan Geoff White from West Sussex and he decided to take his son Ed who is a competitive kart racer.
So Geoff, tell us about yourself and how you came to win this competition?
I’m 60 years old and run my own plastering company. I live in the village of Cuckfield in West Sussex. Married with two children Ed (17) and Laura (25)
Entered the competition which I saw on Facebook posted by Max Coates. Max is an iON employee and BTCC race driver.
Were your friends envious of your win?
Very much so with so many great prizes included.
This was a true behind the scenes experience, please can you tell us about it?
Being given the full vip treatment and being able to spend so much time in Petter Solberg and Liam Doran’s awnings was a brilliant experience! We were able to see first hand how it all works during the race days. Their hospitality and
friendliness was great.
Rallycross is very exciting don’t you think?
It was a fantastic spectacle, the speed and skill of the drivers was incredible.
What were the highlights for Ed and yourself?
Petter’s start and jump in heat four awesome (both of us)
Were you aware of iON Cameras before and what do you think about their use in motorsport?
Was aware of the camera’s and have seen them on the karting scene. After seeing the stunning results from iON Cameras and the punishment that they get I was very impressed with the results. The cameras rugged construction seem ideal for motorsport.
iON Air Pro 3 Cameras on the helmets of Ed and Max. Ed had the fastest lap while Max and Thomas battle which you can see in the video below.
Your son Ed is a keen kart racer and has won another trip to Italy, can you please tell us about that?
Ed competed in the Henry Surtees Challenge and came third and has won a simulator session at the Ferrari Driver Academy and a Ferrari Racing Department tour at Marenello, Italy for two people including flights and this time he is going to take me!
Ed and I had fantastic weekend in Italy and are now iON fans!
